Charles Fauna is a songwriter, producer and performer based in Brooklyn, NY. While studying sociology at New York University he began to write and record music for no other reason than emotional necessity. Fauna’s sound is euphoric, epic, dark pop-delving deep into themes like death, anxiety, loneliness and existentialism. He believes in the cathartic power of loud dance music and enjoys the balancing act between accessibility and uncomfortable vulnerability.
Since beginning his project in January of 2017 Fauna has released two acclaimed singles and has been featured in publications such as NYLON Magazine, Idolator, EARMILK, Noisey, Atwood Magazine and more. Each of Fauna’s releases in 2017, including his collaboration with Glassio “Morning House,” have entered the top 3 on Hype Machine. His single “Abandon” has been featured on numerous notable Spotify playlists including New Music Friday. In his spare time Fauna is an active drummer for other local acts such as pronoun and Glassio. He is also a composer for television and has had numerous original pieces featured on VICELAND.
His forthcoming debut EP was recorded entirely at his home apartment in Brooklyn and was mixed at various studios across the five boroughs, including the prestigious Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan. The EP was inspired by Fauna's experience witnessing an elderly man die in a hit and run on his street in early 2017. It explores the emotional fallout, both beautiful and terrifying, that comes with considering what it means to love in the face of death.
